A couple of very quick ones, more or less on a whim. We went to Sainte-Mère-Église to have a wander around a bit of Second World War stuff, it’s in close proximity to a place that apparently does amazing crepes, which was slightly annoyingly closed. But I knocked out a couple of ghosts just for, well because they were there. I’m not sure if these have been done by Jo already or by anyone else, but well, I’m on holiday. Anyway 1944 and today.
Great photos. I’ve spent a great deal of time in Ste Mere Eglise. New several of my alumni that were there in June 1944, including the late Bob Murphy, who would start the parachute anniversaries in 1964 at the 20th anniversaries. My old friend Bob Murphy was with one of the Pathfinder groups that landed near La Fiere. He started the anniversary jumps in 1964 at the 20th anniversary of D-Day. I met him many years ago at one of our reunions. Sad he and many others are no longer with us. Bob has a street named after him in the square: Rue Robert Murphy.
