Description
It used to hide just off a side road between the airport and the crematorium at Horsham St Faiths – a few sheds full of exhibits, history laid out like a higgeldy-piggeldy corner-shop of delights; models built by enthusiasts, bits of wrecks, cockpits and uniforms, even a whole jeep. Behind it a a field full of chunks of aeroplanes, cockpits, bits of chopped up Harrier and Jaguar. Scattered around are the collection – the main prize the Vulcan and the Lightning, an echo of the Cold War. Near the deltoid shadow sits a Mystére for all the world like a polished aluminium sports car, asleep, dreaming of the skies it inhabited. Now the NDR slides past this pile of tired silver toys.
